Ahh, the age old question, what is NLP?
NLP, neuro-linguistic programming, is the broad field of human patterning. Discovering the patterns that make people's minds and body systems work and changing them into something more useful or desirable.
Sometimes the patterns are simply transferred from one context to another. NLP is subjective, and the way to know it is working is to notice changes in the person's body, face, voice tone, language patterns, etc.
It's about moving from present state to desired state. It's about thinking outside of the box, thinking about thinking. It's the science of subjective experience. In the end, experience and results are what matter in NLP.
We know the world, other people, our passions, only through our 5 senses and that's it. If our 5 senses stopped we would have nothing. We make maps with these 5 senses, and NLP is about changing and updating these maps to reach your goals and outcomes.
NLP has many, many tools on many levels to help assist change. It's not the only modality in the world that can produce great change, but it is a very effective one that has hundreds of processes that are specific to making a certain change. There's the swish for unwanted habits or thoughts. There's Reimprinting for changing a belief, which is very powerful. There's the behavior generator, which improves behavior in a specific context, letting you have new choices out of which to act in a context.
Beliefs are something that I'm going to focus on in this site, as changing beliefs can be one of the most powerful experiences ever. Beliefs are how we filter the world, filters that we mostly recieved from significant others when we were young.
NLP uses the power of the subconscious mind to make lasting change. The subconscious mind is simply everything that you are not attending to at any given moment. It includes all past experiences, future projections, and present things that you are not sensing. I bet you weren't thinking of your left big toe until you read this sentence. It was being tracked only by your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind also controlls body functions like breathing and your heartbeat.
I have many process walkthroughs on this site, and feel free to try them out.
Come enjoy learning NLP. You'll love what you find.
